December favorites

A little bit late, but here you have our December favorites! Starting with one of the presents St. Nikolaus brought me. A new breakfast set from Villeroy & Boch. Of course, we celebrated the arrival of the breakfast set with scrambled eggs and huge coffes. And posted a picture on Instagram.  Obviously.

Madrid: drinks in style

Madrid is one of the coolest cities of Europe. Maybe it’s not as obvious as Barcelona or Rotterdam… but its has a great cultural scene and super friendly vibes. New bars open every day in spite of the financial situation. Because Madrid wants to have fun. Always.  So if you want to discover the coolest new spots in town to grab a bite and have a drink in style, keep reading.

Madrid revisited

Time flies. It’s been almost a month since we visited Madrid! Sometimes we miss this city terribly, that’s why when we come back we never know wether to visit new shops, restaurants, etc, or come back to our usual favourites. Well, this time we stopped for a coffee in our favourite café, we had lunch in our favourite market and stayed in a new hotel that we wanted to check for a long time. Here you have some tips and pictures, if you’d like to see…

Bar El Tomate, Madrid

When we visit Madrid we always meet our friend A. for lunch. She knows the best places to enjoy really (but really) good Spanish food. Last Summer she took us to Mercado de la Reina, which is now one of our favourite spots in Madrid, and this years she introduced us to the wonders of Bar El Tomate. This restaurant is not new, in fact we wanted to try it for a long time. But when we got A’s sign of approval, we knew the lunch was going to be fantastic.

Moodboard: Madrid

In a couple of weeks we will be flying to Spain to visit friends and family. We just can’t wait! Before heading to the beach, we will be spending a few days in our beloved Madrid. Oh, we miss that city! We lived there for a few years and we always dream about coming back. There is something about Madrid that makes it unique: you always feel welcome. It doesn’t matter where you come from, this city will make you feel at home in no time. We are looking forward to visiting this exhibition, meeting our friends for tapas in La Latina (with a couple of new babies hopefully!) and finally seeing my old coworkers, who I haven’t seen in a long time. But we need your help: any new addresses that we just can’t miss? New restaurants, bars or shops? We would be really thankful if you leave us your tips on the comment section! Thanks a million!

Art worth travelling for

Travelling makes you learn and appreciate art in all its forms. While there are cities that are works of art themselves, we always pay attention to the calendars of our favourite museums before planning our trips. Nowadays, there are three exhibitions that we’d love to visit: Henri Matisse: the Cut-outs This exhibition showcases more than 100 pieces created by Matisse between 1936 and 1954. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the last years of his career, when he started “drawing with scissors”. Tate Modern, London 17 April – 7 September 2014 Pop Art Myths Legendary images that looks into the sources of international Pop Art: its myths, irony and innovative perceptions. This exhibition features Warhol, Rauschenberg, Wesselmann, Lichtenstein, Hockney, Hamilton and Equipo Crónica among others. Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid 10 June – 14 Septembre 2014 Irving Penn, Resonance Overview of Irving Penn’s work, mixing both unknown and iconic images. Ethnographic photographs and portraits of celebrities, questioning the meaning of time, life and its fragility. Palazzo Grassi, Venice Until 31 December 2014 Image via AnnaHaro.

Ever since I saw this post I’m dreaming about it. Only Berta is capable of capturing and trasmitting such and elegant yet casual vibe. Her blog and her style are our favourites at the moment. Weekend Style Icons: Erea

Today we are off to London! We can’t be more excited! I’m attending a course this weekend and P. is going to explore the city on her own, so it’s going to be a challenge for both of us! As always, we want to finish the week with a dose of inspiration. Today, let us introduce you to Erea, a freelance stylist based in Madrid.

Adolfo Domínguez Coffee Lounge

Hi there! Today we bring you our last post about Madrid. Every time we visit the city our friends help us discover amazing new places that make us miss Madrid even more. If you are looking for a different place to have coffee with a friend, in a relaxed but fashionable atmosphere, you should pay a visit to the coffee lounge in the upper floor of the flagship store of the Spanish brand Adolfo Dominguez. It’s perfect to have a rest while shopping your sales or have a quiet conversation!

Mercado de la reina, Madrid

Back to Madrid to share with you another moment spent with friends around a table full of tasty food. This time we wanted to talk you about a lovely restaurant is placed in Gran Vía, the heart of Madrid, which offers the most delicious traditional food that I’ve eaten in a long time. The quality of the products is outstanding and that pays off on the plate.
