My hair journey. Seriously.

So in this post I’m going to share with you my hair journey and my latest hair tragedy. Because, honestly: is there anything more important than beautiful hair? I don’t think so. I have to admit that I’m really obsessed with hair. I have a thing for smooth, caramel coloured manes. I know people that go crazy for pointy brows, shiny mani pedis or flawless skin. But hair is my jam. It might be because my hair has a history of looking like a mop, being curly when I wanted it straight, and straight when I wanted it curly. Humidity is to my hair what the sinister creatures inside the paralell world are to Eleven. It scares me like hell, but it also makes me fight back. And what do I use to fight back? Everything! No weapon is enough!  I will win this war! (Insert hair flip, obviously) It all started thousands of years ago, when I was a teenager and the world worked without Internet. Just as inexplicably, my hair somehow worked without …

Frizzy hair?

I’ve always had terrilby frizzy hair but things have gone crazy since I chopped my mane into a medium bob. I used to get Brazilian keratine treatments but sadly the one that really worked wonders for my hair was removed from the market. Apparently it was dangerous for the person applying it. Something about ashtma. Bummer. So I’ve been fighting with hair straighteners for the last few months. Even though my arms seem more toned, I’m exhausted. Good news, though: I’ve recently found Smooth Collection, the new line that Moroccan Oil has launched to help people with crazy hair like mine. Infused with argan oil and argan butter, it strengthens and aligns hair’s natural keratin structure.  It doesn’t deliver like my beloved toxic keratin treatment, but I really like it. And, again, it’s not toxic. I use the shampoo, the conditioner and the smoothing lotion. I have to be honest: it doesn’t make my hair look like silk immediately but it does help to tame my locks. And it smells like heaven. I even don’t use …

Messy hair

Since we chopped our manes we are bonkers for that effortless messy hair look. The only problem is that it actually takes a lot of effort. We basically fake the #iwokeuplikethis with an hour of curling, treating and messing. I know, I know, we shouldn’t admit that we go through all that, but hey, we are humans and we do not wake up like this. If you do, don’t read any further. However, if you need some help in the mornings and you have frizzy hair some days and ridiculously straight hair the rest of the time, have a look at this products that we’ve tested and we use regularly to achieve a natural messy hair look: Bumble and Bumble hair (un)dressing crème: apply a tiny amount through damp hair. It gives you a rough texture so don’t overdo it. Work with your hands, mess around and let it sit. It gives you that “I’ve just spent a day at the beach” allure. Oribe Dry texturizing Spray: this product is absolutely amazing. It makes your hair …

Kérastase Nutritive: Oldie but goodie

I have fine dry frizzy hair and I live in a country where it rains all the time. I know that you are sending your condolences right know. Thank you. Besides, I colour my hair. So the situation is even worse. After my brunette fiasco I’ve come back to my usual dark blonde/ caramel hair but I’ve noticed my poor little mane is quite damaged. That’s when Kérastase comes back into my bathroom. I know their products are the bomb, but somehow I get distracted by other new brands and end up buying flashy promising new products and forgetting the old good Kérastase. I should have been faithful though, because their Nutritive Line is the only one who soothes my hair. I’ve been using it again for the last couple of weeks and I already feel the difference. I’m not saying that it’s miraculous, but my hair looks and feels certainly healthier. And it smells amazing. It’s not an exotic scent, it’s just a comforting clean aroma that feels like coming back home. Their range …

Autumn brunnette

Two weeks ago I decided to change my hair a little bit and I went a few shades darker. I thought that a silky rich chocolate-ish brown would be perfect for the new season. I don’t know why but when September comes I feel like I want to be a brunette. Summer is for sunkissed hair, but Autumn calls for soft hazelnut hair, right? At least that’s what I thought. These pictures found on Pinterest were my inspiration. So I took them to my hairdresser and he told me to go only a couple of shades darker. Let’s be cautious, he said. Well, he always is: the only hairdresser I know that only cuts 2 mm of hair if you say you want to cut just the split ends. Where I come from, if you say that they will cut 4 centimeters of your hair. At least. You may even lost your mane. Anyway, I went out of the salon all happy but the following day… well, I hated it. Epic fail. Instead of the …

Embellished pony tail

Lately I’ve been seeing some nice messy pony tails embellished with cute bows. I don’t know if that can be considered a trend, a coincidence or just a nonsense, but I find it pretty charming. Or maybe childish, I’m still not sure about it. What do you think? In case you like it, here you have a DIY and, well, Alexa is wearing it so maybe we should give it a try? Now that everyone is talking about the Karlie, the haircut of the moment, I have to say that I’m still thinking about ombre hair! I think it looks gorgeous but I wear buns and ponytails all the time so I’m worried that my hair will look a little bit weird, a little bit colour block, two shades… um… I don’t know. Anyway, what do you think? Do you think ombre hair still rocks or is it too late? Are you going to chop you hair like Karlie? I love it but apparently it’s a no – no for round faces, so no Karlie for me. Sad (round) face. Image via Box No. 216. Check out this blog, it’s all about super cool hair!
