This weekend we’ve tried to recreate one of the delicious open faced sandwiches that we ate in September at Almanak, a fantastic restaurant in Copenhagen. We loved the combination of the mushrooms, the cheese and the garlic. So seasonal and comforting. While the result wasn’t exactly the same, it was still delicious. So here you have the recipe, if case you’d like to try it at home…
Did we mention that we love brunch? Oh maybe we did a couple of times… (Exhibit A, B & C). It might be the sun shining a little bit these days, or the fact that after two crazy weeks at work we finally have a few days off, but we are looking forward to preparing huge Spring brunches for our friends. We’ve been testing some recipes and this one is the real winner. They might not look like much, but these little bacon, egg and cheddar pies are perfect. Tender yet a tad crunchy, soft but with a nice spicy kick thanks to a small amount of mustard à l’Ancienne and really easy to prepare. That’s exactly what you are looking for if you are having guests over, isn’t it?
October was a very nice month. We’ve worked more than ever, but we also found the time to relax and celebrate my birthday! We did a nice little trip to Heidelberg, my mum was here to visit and the weather was astoundingly merciful allowing us to enjoy some beautiful Autumnal walks. Anyway! We start our favourites of the month with this amazing burger. A real highlight!
Last week we attended the most wonderful foodie experience: a French cheese tasting. It took place in our favourite restaurants in Bremen, Presse. Even though we eat there at least once a week, we hadn’t still attended one of their special nights. Two months ago, when we saw they have programmed a French cheese tasting, we couldn’t say no and booked our seats. If you love cheese, you are going to love this post!
This is our perfect lunch for a lazy Sunday. Simple but high quality products, a little bit of sunshine and a nice conversation. A couple of weeks ago I visited my family in Italy and I brought home some excelent local products. Among them, this fantastic Sopressa vicentina. Last Sunday we decided to eat a little bit… with some Parmigiano cheese and roasted pepper buschette. A really easy Italian lunch than could be perfect for an unexpected dinner with friends this Summer.
Today we are going to share with you our new favourite place in the world. The place where we had one of the loveliest dinners we’ve ever had. A couple of weeks ago, we were wandering through Marylebone village when we came across this cheese shop. We loved it immediately and when we saw a little poster saying that on Monday and Friday nights they open for cheese and charcuterie tasting we new we had a plan for the evening. It sounded so friendly: no reservations, just bring your friends.
Hello there! How was your weekend? We had a great one. On Saturday we got to know a new area of the city we live in, ate in a wonderful Syrian restaurant and spent the afternoon watching terrible but funny movies all bundled up in our sofa because, sadly, Winter is back. Sunday was all about brunch! Here you have our basics for Sunday brunch and a brand new recipe if you’d like to see…
To say that we love cheese would be an understatement. So when I came across the top ten cheese tours on France by National Geographic I thought that it was written for us. Thank you, National Geographic. This would be the perfect way of travelling: eating a different kind of cheese in every stop of the journey ;)
We’ve started this week really excited and looking forward for the weekend! This Sunday we will be hosting our first Sunday brunch in our brand new home! I have to admit that working on the preparations for a party is my favourite part of the party, so I can’t be happier! We’ve prepared our new home for the cold German winter, so we just have to decide which recipes to prepare! Cheese has to be involved in most of them. Any suggestions?
We love food markets, so the last time we visited London we spent a whole morning wandering Borough Market. It is almost food heaven: fresh fish from the British coasts, locally grown or exotically sourced fruits and vegetables, butchery at his very best, international food, artisans, bakeries, cafes, restaurants…
