More makeup gurus

Last year we talked about my Your Tube make up gurus. Since then, my obsession with beauty and makeup Your Tube channels has increased (maybe alarmingly, ehem). I’ll admit it: I spend a fair amount of time watching makeup tutorials, hauls and reviews. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s pretty relaxing!  So I thought I’ll share with you my new favourites! You know, sharing is caring and all that jazz… Lily Pebbles: if you have brown eyes, you’ll love her channel… Lots of ideas for (otherwise boring) brown eyes. You’ll love it too if you love eating, you are not a fan of exercising and if you need inspiration for your monochrome, casual wardrobe. Shameless fripperies: I discovered Karima’s channel thanks to Lily and I loooooooooooooove it. She has a fantastic Australian accent and she does foundation like I’ve never seen before. Check this video! And this could be my favourite tutorial ever. I covet thee: Alix is a sweet girl who makes really nice videos that include makeup, Nutella cookies and lots of stripe …

Make up gurus

It’s been a long time since I wanted to publish this post. Don’t you love make up youtoubers? Watching make up tutorials in You Tube is one of my guilty pleasures. I find it oddly relaxing! besides you can always learnt one thing or two. These are my favourite make up gurus: 1. Michelle Phan: she was the first person I watched in You Tube. I don’t know how I got to her channel, probably through some blog. Anyway, she has evolved a lot and has created her own make up brand. Some of her videos now are crazy and involve Manga characters, but she shares thousands of useful tips and she is sweet. 2. Vivianna does make up: she has that girl next door vibe going on and I love it. I think we could be besties. She is fun, normal and does weekly vlogs that I can’t stop watching (which makes me feel like a stalker, to be honest). Anyway, I love her channel. 3. Lisa Eldridge: She is the queen of make …

Beauty basics

Even though we love discovering new beauty products, there are a bunch of items that we’ve been using for years. We are extremely loyal to them and while we love watching You Tube videos or Instagram mini-tutorials about fascinating, new beauty launches, the truth is that we always go back to our basics. In fact, we bet that every woman has her beauty basics, those no one talks about, those products that aren’t fancy but give her that special scent that identifies her, that beautiful shine in her hair or the softness of her skin. Those little things that make us… us. In my case, that’s the Irresistibly Smooth Nivea body lotion, the light blue one as I always call it. It has changed its name and packing during the last few years but the lotions is always the same: lighter than the original Nivea body lotion and softer, with a warmer scent. In fact, that’s the scent most people identifies me with. It’s great for dry skin and its non greasy formula makes it fantastic …

How to avoid wrinkles

Don’t laugh, don’t cry, don’t sleep without silk pillows, don’t move, don’t live. Actually, this post should be entitled: how to avoid wrinkles without looking  like a wax sculpture. But if you want to laugh, cry, sleep, move and, well… live! you should look for a nice cream that will keep your skin moisturised. It’s not going to be miraculous (none of them are) but it’s going to help. I once heard a dermatologist say: no matter how big or tiny your budget is, you should look for the best cream you can afford. Clean your skin and apply said cream every day. Basically that’s what we’ve been doing since we were eighteen. Clean and moisturise every single day. During the last few years, however, we’ve added some new products to help us in the dewy, jewy, toned skin department. We’ve also added a quick and easy routine at night. It’s something that feels good, the famous me time. It’s a cliché but it does help us relax and unwind. Lately we’ve been loving this …

New beauty staples

Even though we are BB/ CC cream fans, we know that sometimes we have to step up our game. Our dearest friends’ wedding this weekend might be one of those rare occasions. After watching a few (ok, maybe thousads) of beauty tutorials on You Tube we decided to give the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation a try. And we loved it. It matifies the skin but it brightens your complexion at the same time. The finish is absolutely flawless, even more when applied with the Beauty Blender, and it is beautifully longlasting. It has no scent, feels fresh on the skin and blends like heaven. We’ve also heard that it’s the best foundation when you are having your picture taken, so we’ll see if that’s accurate after the wedding! We’ve introduced another change in our makeup  routine. And it involves colour. Whaaaat??? Yes. We, eternal neutral palette lovers, have been using this creamy,  soft, realy green eye pencil: the Clarins Crayon Khol in Intense Green. It’s brilliantly multitasking: you can use it as eye liner to add …

Everyday beauty

Lately I’ve been using a few beauty products in rotation and I’ve realized they are really affordable. All of them were recommendations of my favorite makeup gurus and they are really, really good. I have sensitive dry skin and I’m quite picky when it comes to textures and finishes, so I was surprised to discover such a fantastic quality for such a small price tag.

New neutrals

I’ve been trying more beauty products lately. I used to be absolutely faithful to a couple of brands, but since I’m addicted to lots of beauty channels in You Tube now, I’m discovering a whole new world. And I’m loving it. Here you have a few new products that I’ve been loving lately: This Summer I bought the Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter in a railway station. Am I the only one who buys most of her beauty products in transit? Airports, railway stations, duty free or not… I don’t care. Anyway, I used to love Body Shop during college but since then I think I ‘ve never used any of their products ever again. Well, after listening to lots of Youtubers claiming that Body Shop body butter was the bomb I decided I should give it another chance. Do you know that they have a gazillion versions now? When I was in college there were the olive oil, coconut and almond body butters, I think. That was it. Well, now you can choose between every fruit imaginable!!! But I chose chocolate. Because …

The best eyeliners

Make up trends come and go, but the good old cat eye will always be my favourite. Always feminine and elegant, a simple change in the thickness or length of the line can make it retro, futuristic, sexy, dramatic, naive… It’s a simple yet versatile look that you can achieve with a little practice and just one product. Here you have a selection of great eyeliners that will help you to get that perfect cat eye. 1. I’ve read fantastic reviews about this Dior liquid eyeliner. They say it’s super precise. 2. This one from Nars is supposed to last up to 12 hours without smearing. 3. Marc Jacobs beauty line has been a very nice surprise in the beauty departments, so why not trying their eyeliner? 4. If you want a very rich colour, you should try this eyeliner by Lancome. 5. I’m super curious about this triple tip lash emphasizing tool by Too Faced. 6. And I’ve saved the best for last. This is the eyeliner that I’ve been using for the last …
