The moment we booked our latest holidays in Spain we made our reservation at Bibo Madrid, the new restaurant of Spanish Chef Dani García. We finally got a table at Bibo Madrid! It’s a long story: last Summer, when we heard this new concept, a mix of traditional classics and nomadic cuisine, was opening in Madrid we tried to book a table, but sadly we came back to Germany before it opened. Bad timing. Last Christmas we tried again, but couldn’t make it because it was fully booked for the whole holidays. So this time we were determined: we were going to make it! And we did! After all the waiting and failed attempts, Bibo Madrid did not disappoint. Quite the opposite, we were mesmerised by the incredible food, the attentive service, the fun atmosphere… and the bathrooms, graced by the sound of birds! They’ve thought about every detail to make a dinner at Bibo Madrid a delightful experience. Everything was perfect. We started with a cocktail, of course. The innovative menu in the form …
Last Summer we had the pleasure to stay at the extremely beautiful Only You Boutique hotel in Madrid (read our review here). We really loved the service, the decor and the location, so when we found out that they were opening a new hotel in Madrid we were intriged and decided to book a couple of nights at Only You Atocha last December. Spoiler alert: it’s fantastic. The style of both hotels is completely different yet the attention to detail is equally outstanding. Only You Boutique is sophisticated, calm and offers a flawless atmosphere, while Only You Atocha feels more masculine, cosmopolitan and spirited. The vibe is clearly inspired in New York, in fact during this year they will open different pop-ups in the hotel (restaurants, cocktail bars etc) to bring the Big Apple closer to Madrid. The big lobby is one of the things we loved the most: as soon as you enter the hotel you can feel the relax vibes and the lively (not noisy) character of the hotel. You will …
Could this be the most beautiful hotel we’ve ever been to???
Madrid has lots of wonderful restaurants. Every month new establishments open their doors and, inevitably, others say their goodbyes. However, good traditional Spanish food with a twist, great service and lovely decor are the elements that guarantee success. Taberna los Gallos knows it and that’s exactly what they offer.
Today it’s pouring. We woke up to one of those warm humid late Summer mornings that remind you of Autumn. As I walked to the office I saw a few people sipping their coffee all wrapped up in light blankets looking through their windows and staring at the grey sky. Definitely a lazy morning that feels like a farewell to Summer. But with the taste of ice cream still in our palate, with our skin a little bit tanned and with the fresh memories of our holidays in our minds, we publish today these pictures of one of the most amazing swimming pools in Madrid. Because we are looking forward to Autumn, but we already miss the sun, the long days and the bare feet.
When we come back to Madrid we usually hesitate: should we visit our favorite spots or should we try new ones? Nowadays there are so many nice restaurants that is really difficult to keep up with the hype. But among all the new openings, there was one that caught our attention. Flavia claimed to be the new home for authentic Italian cuisine in Madrid, so we had to give it a try. Located in a quiet area of Madrid’s city center yet far from the tourists and the traffic, it was not the most awaited opening, but its proposal certainly looked attractive to us.
Hotel de las Letras is elegant, quiet and memorable. Just like a good book. It’s an space devoted to words, with quotes on the walls by famous writers and poets, so the sober atmosphere almost reminds the guests of a library. A very comfortable, kind of hip library, that is.
We had read about Bosco de Lobos in a couple of blogs and magazines. We were initially attracted to it by its beautiful decor and all the fuzz that it had created in Madrid’s gastro scene, but to be honest we doubted about its cuisine. You know the drill: new fancy resturant, with a focus on design, lots of shots in all the right Instagram accounts, international vibes… We actually expected a nice but not impressive meal. Well, we, foodie snobs sometimes, we were totally wrong. The food was utterly delicious. So much as to come back twice in a couple of weeks.
Madrid is one of the coolest cities of Europe. Maybe it’s not as obvious as Barcelona or Rotterdam… but its has a great cultural scene and super friendly vibes. New bars open every day in spite of the financial situation. Because Madrid wants to have fun. Always. So if you want to discover the coolest new spots in town to grab a bite and have a drink in style, keep reading.
Time flies. It’s been almost a month since we visited Madrid! Sometimes we miss this city terribly, that’s why when we come back we never know wether to visit new shops, restaurants, etc, or come back to our usual favourites. Well, this time we stopped for a coffee in our favourite café, we had lunch in our favourite market and stayed in a new hotel that we wanted to check for a long time. Here you have some tips and pictures, if you’d like to see…
