We discovered Gorm’s a while ago while strolling around Torvehallerne. The pizzas looked delicious: super thin crust and fresh natural toppings. So last Satuday we were delighted to bump into their restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen, Nyhavn. In the middle of a little snow storm, the warm candle light, the scent of oregano and the prospect of a nice glass of rosé seemed heaven on Earth.
The place is as cosy and wellcoming as they get. Young staff, industrial look with warm details (beautiful wooden tables, hundreds of candle lights) and a small but lovely menu with a few gourmet pizze, some sides and a few desserts. Nothing too complicated: just natural produce and a wood stove.
We were quite shocked to see that some of the pizzas included potato in their toppings. Never seen before… But, anyway, we ordered one of them. We had to try it. The potato was thinly sliced and actually gave it a nice touch. Live to learn!
We had a couple of pizze: one with Parma ham, potato (??), rucola and pesto, and the other one with spinachs and salami. They were pure joy. The dough was extremely thin and slightly burnt in all the right places… mmm!!!! No cheese. And we didn’t miss it. That’s how good they were!
We also ordered a green salad with yellow cherry tomatoes and a peanut vinaigrette. We did it to feel a little bit healthier but it was actually really nice: refreshing, a tid zingy and really crunchy.
We can’t recommend Gorm’s enough. The food is outstanding, the service is great and the location can’t be better: just in front of Copenhagen’s most photographed landmark. Don’t fear the tourists, though: the place is very well hidden and has absolutely no touristy feeling to it.
