So, yes, this week the blog is all about lists. But this is going to be the last one! What can I say? I love making lists! Anyway, have you ever dream about sleeping inside a cave in Capadoccia? Have you ever thought about renting a house on a tree to spend your holidays? And how cool would be calling a vintage Airstream trailer your home for a few days? Here you have some unusual sleeping spots that will deserve a journey on its own!
1. Igloo village, Zermatt, Switzerland:
This is one of the seven igloo villages built every season in the Alps and Pyrenees. Some igloos act as hotel rooms, complete with jacuzzis and chimneys. Perfect for a romantic getaway but super fun too if you travel with children.
2. Cappadocia Cave Suites, Turkey:
A unique place. This hotel combines houses and cave dwellings of the Hittite, Roman and Byzantine periods with the luxurious comfort of the 21st century (they have wi-fi in all the caves, I mean rooms!) Don’t forget to book an air balloon flight to admire the spectacular Cappadocian landscape.
3. The Caves resort, Negril, Jamaica:
The cottages at this secluded resort sit atop steep cave-strewn cliffs, where you can dine in a private grotto or take in the scene at the candlelit Cave Rum and Cigar Bar.
4. Lake Naivasha Crescent camp, Kenya:
This new tented eco-camp has 16 luxury tented camps and 5 bungalows. There is nothing quite like sleeping in a tented camp, hot water bottle at your feet, and the sound of hippos foraging for food in the middle of the night. Scary? Adventurous?
5. Treebones resort, California, USA:
A premier glamping resort where you will sleep in a spacious and tastefully furnished yurt with a generous redwood deck with spectacular coastal views. A unique lodging and dining experience on California’s breathtaking Big Sur Coast.
6. Hotel de Glace, Québec, Canada:
All of the rooms are themed differently with unique ice carvings in each room. The hotel will provide you with arctic-style sleeping bags designed to keep you warm well below zero. After dark, the hotel comes to life with beautiful colored lighting that really highlights the structure.
7. Oberoi Rajvillas, Jaipur, India:
This hotel offers 13 luxury tents with polished teak floors, cloth wall hangings and exquisite hand-embroidered canopies. Outside, a wraparound terrace with chaise longues, where you can enjoy your morning coffee. Lush gardens with beautiful fountains surround the tents. Enjoy the jasmine and night queen scents in the early evenings, a fragrance unique to India.
8. Treehotel, Harads, Sweden:
Five futuristic tree houses, from the Bird’s Nest to a full-size UFO, were built with minimal impact on the Lule River Valley. The newest tree room, Mirrorcube, has reflective glass walls that disappear into the pines. After a meal of local elk or reindeer, visit the treetop sauna until it’s time for a midnight fishing trip or a mountain-bike ride.
9. Grand Daddy Hotel, Cape town, South Africa:
This hotel offers guests something a little different: a night’s sleep in a vintage Airstream trailer parked on the roof of the hotel. The seven trailers, imagined by a different South African artist each, have breathtaking views of Table Mountain. During your stay, take advantage of the adjacent rooftop bar and picnic seating, a more sociable option than trailer-side room service .
