Monochrome

As we get older there is a colour that not only has inevitably appeared in our hair but also has become the star of our wardrobe: grey. In fact, we have noticed that lately all of our purchases have this colour in common. Grey is cosy, modern, understated and the best friend of navy, black and white. That’s why grey should be in your wardrobe too. Looking for a camel coat last season we went across this beautiful wrap coat in Zara. I’ve used this almost as much as this bag, so it has been promoted to one of our best buys. I use it for working meetings with more formal attire but also on weekends with jeans and my beloved Stan Smiths. Sadly, it’s no longer available. Of course, Max Mara does the best grey (and camel) wrap coats (exhibit A und exhibit B) but you can also find some more affordable options like this one from Reiss, this beautiful JCrew trench wool coat, this tomboy-ish Mango number (on sale!) or this cocoon shaped …

Winter uniform

How do you dress for Winter? No, I’m not talking about lovely layering, adorable beanies and ankles au naturel kind of Winter. I’m talking about real Winter: when frozen wind burns (yes, like the sun would do) your cheeks, when your neck and back hurt because you are permanently shrinking and cringing, when the mere thought of going out makes you shiver, when your nose hurts every time you breathe and your breath turns into small drops that inevitably pour into your scarf and quickly turn into little dots of frost that decorate said scarf and make your breathing hurt your nose even more. That dreadful vicious circle… We’ve been suffering those Winters since 2011. And therefore we’ve developed a method, a uniform:  knit + trousers + coat + boots. Always. Every day. Of course, under all that we wear thermal tees and socks. And on top of all that we wear a good hat and a warm scarf. Our favourite knits are from COS. You don’t want very big sweaters, otherwise you’d feel very …

Stripes, stripes, stripes

There are two constants in our wardrobe: monochrome and stripes. And now that Summer is here, stripes are our favourite because who doesn’t want to feel like Brigitte Bardot in the French Riviera (or a Venetian gondolier)?  These are a few striped pieces that you can find in our closet. Over the years, we’ve been putting together a striped section in our wardrobe with staples that go from working appropriate blazers to cute bikinis. The dress: this is an old time favourite of mine. Great for breakfasts overlooking the sea, afternoon ice cream runs or even Fridays at the office. This one is from Mango and it has a few years but you can find a similar one here and here (on sale!) The swimsuit: with a really flattering neckline, this swimsuit looks really cute with denim shorts. You won’t need anything else to go to the beach. Well, sunscreen and a magazine, but that’s about it. Find similar pieces here, here and here. The perfect striped tee: we talked about these tees a few …

The classics

Jenna Lyons is our ultimate style icon so her style tips and recommendations are our wardrobe Bible. Yesterday we were browsing the JCrew page (as usual) and we found her selection of classic pieces. We weren’t surprised: timeless basic items that we all can wear, no matter where we live our what we do. She included the following staples in her list and we thought it would be fun to share and find out which classics should we own: – The navy suit: checked! We have a couple of navy suits by The Kooples. Not your average suit maybe… but they are lovely. – The blazer: checked! We have the classic black version, the navy version, the red version and even a striped version. We’ve been looking for a white version for a while now but it’s a difficult task. White fabrics are naughty. – The jean jacket: checked! We have a very old jacket that we would love to call vintage, but it would be stupid. It’s simply old. – The red lip: checked! While P. …

We need this! Universe Sézane

We love brands that not only sell clothes, or makeup or furniture… we love brands that sell a lifestyle, an attitude. They might connect with you or they might connect with the aspirational idea of what you want to be, but in any case they seduce you with a whole universe. Sézane is one of those brands. Browsing their website we have fallen in love with simple pieces for our wardrobe, delightful stationery and beautiful understated decor.

Emerson Fry Fall/ Winter 2014

Emerson Fry has been on our radar for a couple of years. They make wearable, beautiful collections that create by themselves the perfect wardrobe for the working woman. And let me emphasize the word woman. Their pieces are timeless, elegant and they claim to have the best USA quality.  The cuts and the subtle details make their looks perfectly polished. Here you have our favorite looks, if you’d like to see…

JCrew… again.

And they’ve done it again. A gorgeous collection that just makes us want to forget any other brand and wear only JCrew. Always and forever. Ok, fine… maybe we are exaggerating a little bit but those looks? Stunning! For once, we are really happy about the crappy German weather. We can wear Autumn clothes again! And, according to JCrew, they will be grey. How cool are those bermudas? (And that’s a sentence I never thought I would say….)

Grey

Grey is P.’s favourite colour so she’s super happy that it is so fashionable this season. Grey can be combined with lots of colours but she specially loves mixing it with navy, chocolate and, obviously, black. This season, however, it seems mandatory to pair the softest shades of grey with pastels. Well, I don’t think that is going to happen. P’s wardrobe has an interesting lack of soft colours. Well, colours in general. Maybe a touch of green and mustard, but that’s all. Anyway… grey combines perfectly with those too! 1. The basic. A fantastic cashmere sweater. This is the kind of piece you should invest some money on. 2. This lovely dress from Sandro will be a great adition to anyone’s wardrobe. You can dress it up with pumps and a pretty coat, or dress it down with flats and a biker jacket. 3. If I could, I would buy this hat. This perfect fedora will make every outfit look like a million dollar. 4. This oversize coat by Isabel Marant x H&M is …
