Summer nails

14 May

nail_polish_1

I hate nail art. I know it’s something that everyone is loving nowadays, but I hate it. I find it a little bit tacky and for someone like me, who just likes red, pink and coral shades in her nails, it’s just too much.

Even though I’m quite classic when it comes to my nails, in Summer I go a little bit crazier, just like everyone else, and go for brighter shades and I even love a little bit of dark blue on my toes. These are my favourite nail polishes for Summer, if you’d like to see.

mmm… Monday! Strawberry season

6 May

Strawberry season is here! I’ve started to see boxes full of these little red ladies everywhere and I’m more that happy. Strawberries are one of my favourite fruits! In case you didn’t know, the most delicious strawberries grow in the Noth Sea coast area in Germany, so from now on we will enjoy their sweet smell and delicious flavor!! Yay!! We’ve found a perk of living in the North of Germany!!  ;)
We like things simple, so we love eating fresh plain strawberries for breakfast but here you have some other fancier possibilities, if you’d like to see.

Venice. It can’t get better than this.

Visiting Venice is always magic, but if the Mostra is on… wow, glamour dapertutto! First thing to do: capuccino, cornetto and Vogue Italia, of course!

Madrid

23 Aug

Madrid is one of the greatest places to be. I know that most people prefer Barcelona, and yes, it is a lovely city, but I’m a huge fan of Madrid. During our holidays we visited Madrid too and today I wanted to show you two wonderful terraces where you can have a drink, something to eat and listen to nice music during Madrid’s perfect and warm Summer evenings.

The first picture was taken in Parque de Atenas. This place is just so cool. The music is fantastic and the views are amazing: not only because the staff is gorgeous, but also because it is placed down below the Royal Palace at the bottom of the Campo del Moro. Perfect location.

The second place I wanted to show you is completely different. It is called El Espejo and it is romantic, charming and decadent. Placed in Paseo de Recoletos, in front of the magnificent Biblioteca Nacional de España, it is a lovely terrace with piano live music with the most amazing and funny mix of clients. Lovely old ladies, hipsters, wealthy turists, couples on their first dates, writers looking for inspiration…  Since it is very close to the most important shopping areas of Madrid (Barrio de Salamanca for fancy posh shops and Salesas area for trendy original findings)  it is the perfect place to rest after a nice shopping spree. Try their iced-lemon drink!

Málaga

22 Aug

Our first stop this Summer was Málaga. A friend of ours has an amazing apartment there and we spent five days with her. We had a great time. We sunbathed, read lots and lots of magazines (Elle, Vogue, Grazia… you name it!) and relaxed. I was very proud of myself because I even got up early a couple of days and went running!! This first picture was taken one of those mornings. It was fantastic: silence, gentle and fresh sea breeze and a clear conscience (after running it doesn’t matter how many ice creams you have eaten the previous day, right?)

Zambujeira do mar – Festival do sudoeste

13 Jul

This lovely beach is placed in a tiny Portuguese village called Zambujeira do Mar. We used to go there every Summer to spend a few days during the Sudoeste Festival. It was a great Festival: not too famous, not too crowded and not too far from the beach. We spent the mornings lying in the beach and the afternoons and nights dancing and listening to our favourite bands. I remember Beck singing a cool version of Beyonce’s Crazy in love, a spectacular Moloko’s concert, an unexpectedly funny Morcheeba’s show, the best Jamiroquai’s concert ever and much much more… Oh, and I got so angry at The Cure’s concert!!! I was so excited before and so disappointed afterwards…
It was great… I even liked camping then. Well, what can I say? I was young and inexperienced! So, if you like camping under pine trees (beware of the fire!), long Summer nights with your favourite music and Sagres beer, you should give it a try! This year the festival takes place from 1st to 5th August and it’s featuring lots of great artists: from Ben Harper to David Guetta. There is music for every taste. Here you have the link:

And don’t forget the amazing Portuguese beaches!

Childhood vacation memories

11 Jul

The other day I came across a blog that talked about a little village in Italy where I used to spend the holidays when I was a child. It really surprised me because I haven’t thought about those days in a very long time. So lets get down the memory lane… Where did you spend your childhood vacations?  Beach? Mountains? Summer in the city? Which are your best memories? Mine are going to the market at 7 a.m. with my grandmother, going fishing with my grandfather, riding my bike with my cousins and our dogs and playing in the swimmingpool with my mother. I really loved Summers!

In my suitcase: A great tee

10 Jul

Here we are again, preparing my suitcase for Summer! I know, I know… most of you are already in Summer, but I’m still in last years’ Autumn. This is the North of Germany!

When it comes to t-shirts, I’m all for plain, basic, boyish/sometime rockerish style. I don’t like too much colour or printed fabrics… I like my tees simple and comfy.
