A year ago my two favorite cousins went to Aspen. They are Winter sports fans, so they skied and snowboarded until they had stalactites hanging from their beards, they rented a wonderful wooden cabin with an amazing minimalist interior and they had a blast. With every picture they sent us we got more and more jelous, obviously. And while we are really tempted by the old European glamour of places like Zermatt or Cortina D’Ampezzo, we can’t help but daydream about an American Winter Wonderland…
We would love to… Have cup of hot chocolate in Angelina Paris and then go for a long afternoon walk in Montmartre. Skate along the frozen Dutch canals in Kinderdijk. Experience an authentic Winter wonderland dream in Putevny, Czech Republic. Indulge to high tea in London (at the Claridge’s, if posible). Ski in Switzerland (that means watch other people skiing while we sip a hot chocolate mocktail in a cosy wooden cabin). Wander through the almost deserted alleys in Venice. Observe the Northern lights in Lapland. Go Christmas shopping in Copenhagen. Take my mum to Scotland for a whiskey tasting. Visit all the traditional cafes in Vienna and eat lots of Dobos Torte… or escape from the cold weather and head to the Canary Islands. A girl can dream! I have a cousin who loves Winter sports. He used to spend the first day of the year hitting the slopes in the Pyrenees. I remember that our grandpa always admired him for that. No party, no hangover. Just a nice night of sleep and a fresh start for the New Year all healthy and surrounded by nature. I find it great, don’t you? Not my thing, though ;) But for those of you who are adventurous and sporty, here you have six gorgeous places to welcome 2014 that will be perfect for you.
