Liquid lipsticks for Autumn

Lipstick is the one piece of makeup that symbolizes aging for me. You can get away with everything else but, lipstick? The bastard ends up all over your face thanks to those little lines around your mouth and makes you look like the joker on a bad day. But at the same time, the older you get, the more you need a little bit of lipstick to cheer up your face. In my mind aging is really connected to lipstick. When I was a teenager I was all about eye shadows (and I still am, you just have to see my eye shadow palette collection…) but I wouldn’t care for lipstick that much. I only wanted to match my eye shadow to my clothes (oh, thank God there was no social media back then!) But my nonna, my mum and my great aunt were all about lipstick. My nonna would wear red lipstick every single day, my mum has always been a fan of pink shades and my aunt was a visionary and reached for …

Red lipstick

If you are a beauty addict I’m sure you’ve recognized this picture. Yes, it’s the beauty look from D&G’s last show. The makeup was flawless and exactly my favorite kind of beauty look. Juicy yet matte red lips and a good old elegant black cat eye. When I’m not slapping neutral shades all over my face, this is what I like to wear. But red lipstick is tricky. Oh yes. And I’m not talking about which shade suits you better (that problem has an easy solution: ask the girl in the counter). I’m talking about those tiny lines around your lips that insist on ruining your otherwise sophisticated and perfect bold lisptick. Those lines that your red lipstick decides to follow in an attempt to make you look like a granny. If you have 20 years you probably haven’t heard of them (unless you smoke) but beware! They are coming your way. Oh yes. I’ve been using antiageing creams since the day I turned 20, I haven’t smoked a cigarette in my whole life, I drink plenty of …

What’s in my bag? Travel edition

Do you travel light or full of “what ifs”? We always carry everything with us. Everything. The result: sore backs, grumpy moods and uncomfortable travel. But not anymore!!! We are determined to travel smart. Since we are going away this weekend (more on that this afternoon, stay tuned!) we’ve prepared a “just the essentials” travel bag. Well, apart from our phones, chargers, wallets and wipes, ehem, this is all we will take with us: 1. A medium size cross body bag. Free hands, cute colour, nice leather. It ticks all the right boxes. We bought this one in Hakei, one of our favourite Spanish shops. They have the best leather and fantastic designs. 2. Our camera. In fact we usually take two cameras with us. This one is our Canon Powershot S120. It’s small, easy to use (well, I still have to learn a few tricks) and records video too. 3. A notebook and a pen. To write drown all things important. And scrawling, mostly. 4. Oil blotting papers. Planes are awful to our skin, that’s …

In my suitcase: Holiday make up

Tomorrow we are flying back home for Christmas and we couldn’t be more excited. Our suitcases are almost finished, the only thing that we haven’t prepared is our make up bag. Here you have some products that we are taking with us… and some others that we wish we could add last minute to look our best this Christmas: 1. Adult Content Blush Palette by NARS. This is a limited edition with the four iconic NARS blush and highlighting blush shades. I’m hoping to get hold of it in Spain, since they don’t sell NARS products here. 2. Le Teint Touche Èclat: my favourite foundation to achieve glowing skin. 3. No 7 Skin Illuminator Fluid: perfect to add that extra yet subtle glow without being too shimmery. 4. Ombres Matelassées: limited edition eyeshadow palette by Chanel with the most beautiful colours to get several effects, from the glamourous shimmer to the matte finish. This is what I’ll be looking for at the duty free tomorrow! 5. The Porefessional by Benefit. I use it every day. …

Summer nails

I hate nail art. I know it’s something that everyone is loving nowadays, but I hate it. I find it a little bit tacky and for someone like me, who just likes red, pink and coral shades in her nails, it’s just too much. Even though I’m quite classic when it comes to my nails, in Summer I go a little bit crazier, just like everyone else, and go for brighter shades and I even love a little bit of dark blue on my toes. These are my favourite nail polishes for Summer, if you’d like to see.
