Ca Na Toneta

Ca Na Toneta is one of our favourite places in the world. To understand why, we have to walk down memory lane a little bit. In 2009 we started planning our wedding and looking for venues and vendors in Mallorca, where our destination wedding would take place. Food has always beeen really important to us and we were determined to have the best food we could afford for our small wedding. We started looking for caterers but finding what we were looking for turned out to be a nightmare. Lots of caterings offered really snob, fusion style, neon-coloured finger food options… but we were looking for delicious, authentic, natural food without any artifices. Our wedding was simple, rustic and very relaxed… just how we like our food! And then we found Ca Na Toneta. A small restaurant where two sisters were revamping traditional local food. A couple of mails later, they agreed to prepare our wedding menu. In February 2010 we visited the restaurant and met them. We LOVED the food, but we also fell …

The pink pepper tree hotel, Mallorca

A few years ago we fell in love with the rural, central area of Mallorca.  It epitomizes everything we love in life. The landscape, the proximity to the sea and the mountains, the subtle golden light that warmly lits the beautiful traditional houses… everything emanates serenity. Since then we’ve dreamt about buying a little house in the area. However, it looks like that dream isn’t coming true anytime soon, but we’ve found a little boutique hotel that feels like our very own home in Mallorca.    The pink pepper tree hotel is hidden in Lloseta, a really small village off the beaten track. This hotel is a home hotel. This means that you are welcome to the kitchen to grab freakfast, that you will receive the keys to the main doors, that you can use the yoga room, the gardens and the swimming pool whenever you feel like it, that the owners will wave goodbye when you go and that, in general, you will feel that the stunning finca is your very own home in …

Top travel moments 2016

The year is coming to an end and it’s time to look back. Instead of making a compilation of our trips this year, we wanted to revisit those special moments that we’ve experienced. Those instants, minutes or tiny lapses of time when we forgot everything else and felt truly happy. The feelings that are worth the trouble, the reasons why travel heals your soul… The moment we entered our cosy apartment in Copenhagen after a whole day of exploring in January. That satisfaction of discovering new places and being awfully but happily tired with red, burning ears from the freezing wind. The moment we saw the most wonderfully starry sky in Mallorca, which took us completely by surprise and made us remember, both with joy and sadness, those who were not with us anymore. The moment we couldn’t stop laughing during our walk on the Thames Path with our friends after a wonderful brunch in a local cafe. We catched our breath, looked up and saw a wonderful view of the city on one side …

Where to travel in 2015?

This week we’ve done two quizzes to guess where we should travel in 2015. This one in the Lonely Planet web says we have to go to Singapore (we both got the same result!) but the quiz in the AFAR website claims that I should experience art in Paris and P. has to recharge in India. Well, we’ve never thought about visiting Singapore to be honest. Maybe we should, apparently it matches our personality, go figure! But Paris is always a good idea. India, on the contrary, scares us. In any case, our travel plans for 2015 are quite different: In February we are planning to spend a weekend in Mallorca. We want to go back to Serra de Tramuntana, eat in Ca Na Toneta and remember a little trip we did five years ago to prepare our destination wedding. If you are curious you can have a look at the posts we did about our wedding here and here. We don’t want to miss The Hive in April. The Hive is the blogger conference that we couldn’t attend …

Castell Son Claret, Mallorca

I write you from my sofa, totally sick and exhausted. Cold weather arrived suddenly and knocked me down. And I’m afraid P. is following my steps… Stressed with tons of work to do and feeling under the weather, we’ve been dreaming (again) with warmer temperatures and lovely places to escape from this hard week/weather/country. We’ve discovered this amazing hotel, surrounded by the breathtaking landscape of the Tramuntana Mountains in Mallorca. Silence, nature, relax… This wonderful placed is called Castell Son Claret.

Our very own DIY Destination Wedding

Three years ago we got married. It truly was the happiest day of my life and since then I’m happier every day. To be honest, I’d never dreamed about my wedding, but as soon as we decided to get married I started to gather information and I became a Wedding machine. I just couldn’t stop. Wedding mode on. Bring it! Invites, dresses, decor, food… I was unstoppable. And I loooooooved it. I know that wedding preparations are stressful for most people, but for me it was paradise: I got plenty of beautiful things to decide, everything was about love, friends, lovely food and being pretty. There was not a hint of stress but a huge amount of excitement!!! In fact, when the wedding was over I was a little bit sad because I wanted to keep preparing things for the wedding. (Inside my head I had this conversation too many times: The wedding is over. Oh. Sad face. Wait! Now comes the honeymoon! Super happy face!! Yeah, but the wedding is over. Sad Face. But …

Mallorca photo diary

Last week we spent a few days in Mallorca and although the weather wasn’t as good as we had expected we had a great time. We came to the conclusion that there is a German cloud that follows us everywhere we go. Some people have pets, we have a cloud. Anyway, here you have some pictures and recommendations if you’d like to see…

Mallorca here we come!

This Winter has been terrible: lots of snow and lots of work. It felt just… long. And dark. And long. We were really tired of grey skies and rainy weekends so… we’re off to Mallorca!!! Sun, please shine bright! Mallorca is a very special place for us and we’re meeting one of our dearest friends there, so it’s going to be a great Spring getaway! We are so happy! PS: we will visit one of our beloved secret places! (Click on the image to enlarge it)
