Looking forward

Even though all I see while browsing though Instagram are palm trees, white sandy beaches and lots of bikinis, I’m already looking forward to Autumn. Maybe too soon? Well, the days are shorter now, the air is fresher and last week, instead of making the most of the sales, I found myself with this hat in my hands. Autumn has always been my favourite season, what can I say? I look forward to wearing my trench with loafers, bundling up in warm pijamas for long lazy Sunday mornings… And, to be honest, these three launches are making September look much more interesting!

New beauty staples

Even though we are BB/ CC cream fans, we know that sometimes we have to step up our game. Our dearest friends’ wedding this weekend might be one of those rare occasions. After watching a few (ok, maybe thousads) of beauty tutorials on You Tube we decided to give the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation a try. And we loved it. It matifies the skin but it brightens your complexion at the same time. The finish is absolutely flawless, even more when applied with the Beauty Blender, and it is beautifully longlasting. It has no scent, feels fresh on the skin and blends like heaven. We’ve also heard that it’s the best foundation when you are having your picture taken, so we’ll see if that’s accurate after the wedding! We’ve introduced another change in our makeup  routine. And it involves colour. Whaaaat??? Yes. We, eternal neutral palette lovers, have been using this creamy,  soft, realy green eye pencil: the Clarins Crayon Khol in Intense Green. It’s brilliantly multitasking: you can use it as eye liner to add …

Nude nails

This Spring I’m changing a little bit my nail game. While I always gravitate towards bright pinks and corals during these (slightly) warmer months, I can’t get enough of nude shades lately. In my mind nudes used to equal classic French Manicure, which I’m not a fan of. But now I believe that a nice matte nude can be quite a statement. It all started with Essie Marshmallow, a warm white with pink undertones, and Essie Sugar Daddy, the ultimate ballerina pink. I just love how they make my hands look clean and polish. After that I wanted to try a soft light brown/ caramel -ish nude and I found Maybelline Color Show in Latte. I have to confess that I went for Maybelline because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a color I didn’t know I’d like, but to be honest, the quality of the formula is pretty good and I love the shade, so I repurchased it instead of looking for a more expensive brand, though the packaging could use some improvement. Finally, …

More makeup gurus

Last year we talked about my Your Tube make up gurus. Since then, my obsession with beauty and makeup Your Tube channels has increased (maybe alarmingly, ehem). I’ll admit it: I spend a fair amount of time watching makeup tutorials, hauls and reviews. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s pretty relaxing!  So I thought I’ll share with you my new favourites! You know, sharing is caring and all that jazz… Lily Pebbles: if you have brown eyes, you’ll love her channel… Lots of ideas for (otherwise boring) brown eyes. You’ll love it too if you love eating, you are not a fan of exercising and if you need inspiration for your monochrome, casual wardrobe. Shameless fripperies: I discovered Karima’s channel thanks to Lily and I loooooooooooooove it. She has a fantastic Australian accent and she does foundation like I’ve never seen before. Check this video! And this could be my favourite tutorial ever. I covet thee: Alix is a sweet girl who makes really nice videos that include makeup, Nutella cookies and lots of stripe …

Everyday beauty

Lately I’ve been using a few beauty products in rotation and I’ve realized they are really affordable. All of them were recommendations of my favorite makeup gurus and they are really, really good. I have sensitive dry skin and I’m quite picky when it comes to textures and finishes, so I was surprised to discover such a fantastic quality for such a small price tag.

Red lipstick

If you are a beauty addict I’m sure you’ve recognized this picture. Yes, it’s the beauty look from D&G’s last show. The makeup was flawless and exactly my favorite kind of beauty look. Juicy yet matte red lips and a good old elegant black cat eye. When I’m not slapping neutral shades all over my face, this is what I like to wear. But red lipstick is tricky. Oh yes. And I’m not talking about which shade suits you better (that problem has an easy solution: ask the girl in the counter). I’m talking about those tiny lines around your lips that insist on ruining your otherwise sophisticated and perfect bold lisptick. Those lines that your red lipstick decides to follow in an attempt to make you look like a granny. If you have 20 years you probably haven’t heard of them (unless you smoke) but beware! They are coming your way. Oh yes. I’ve been using antiageing creams since the day I turned 20, I haven’t smoked a cigarette in my whole life, I drink plenty of …

Au Naturel

Another palette? Yes, but this is different. Lancôme Absolu Nude Palette is the ultimate travel palette. It’s supposed to have everything you need for a no-makeup makeup in small sizes and with a compact packaging, therefore Lancôme claims it is perfect for travelling. So when two of my passions collide, beauty and travel, I have to see what comes out of it.  The palette covers almost everything you need: you can conceal and highlight, you can choose from eight different eyeshadow that go from neutrals to black, you can groom your brows and you have two lip products to choose. But let’s see if it really is everything you need when travelling…

My Naked Palette

I might be the last person on the planet to purchase the famous Naked Palette by Urban Decay, but remember this Sephora clearance? Well, I that’s when I thought now or never! I wanted it for a long time but I always doubted about which one would be the best for me. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems.
