With that beautiful faded light in the mornings and the first orange leaves in the trees, Autumn is slowly but surely making its way into our lives. Since this year we’ve had a few days of Summer with proper high temperatures and crazy humidity, we are looking forward to the new season, which by the way has always been my favourite. It’s the best time of the year for that slow life we love so much: candles, blankets, crispy air, rosy cheeks and afternoons in lovely cafes sipping warm, comforting lattes. We happen to live near one of the best cities to sip coffee: Hamburg. With its huge port, its lovely classic city center, the most amazing shops and that cold North Sea air that blows strongly, Hamburg is our favourite destination for a Saturday of shopping and coffee. Here you have our favourite coffee addict addresses: Coffee Table Mags (Wexstraße 28): we discovered this place on Instagram, because the owner posts the most beautiful images: wooden tables, unique magazines and coffee, that is, heaven. …
November is usually a silly month for us. After an October full of birthdays and just before the Christmas madness, November just sits there, in the middle, with no expectations. It has been a bittersweet month but we’ve tried to make the most of it. We’ve travelled, we’ve drunk an unexpectedly high amount of cups of tea (hence the first picture) and we’ve worked a lot.
A couple of weeks ago we made a terrible mistake. We spent an hour in the Max Mara shop in Hamburg. Bad. Very bad. We were looking for our beloved Rialto Coat, you know, just for fun. We wanted to try it on, secretly hoping it wouldn’t fit because, frankly, i’ts quite expensive. But a whole new world of exquisite coats appeared in front of our eyes. Delightfully soft fabrics, flawless cuts, superb yet sober design… Lots of coats to add to our wish lists. See? Bad, very very bad idea.
A day in Venice From now on we will put together a selection of images to gather our favorites of each month. This way we will focus on the positive and the beautiful side of life. That’s the whole point of this blog, actually.
Last Saturday we had some work to do for our new article in El viajero and headed to Hamburg. We wanted to spend the day at the port, gather some information, take some pictures and enjoy the day. And we did!
Any plans for the weekend? We are going to the cinema tonight to see Quartet, the first film directed by Dustin Hoffman. I’ve heard is quite funny so I’m looking forward to it! This week has been a little bit hard and I want to finish it with a good laugh. Tomorrow we’re going to Hamburg, so we are excited because that means shopping! ;) On Sunday we will work on some new surprises for the blog, (stay tuned!) and we will read every post available about Milan fashion week, a great Sunday, don’t you think? What about you? I hope you have a great fun weekend!!!
This Thursday Saint Nicholas is coming! He will bring sweets and small treats and gifts. Great German tradition, if you ask me. Wake up to a nice pair of shoes full of chocolates is a wonderful idea, don’t you think? For those who want to adopt this adorable tradition, here you have our sweetest suggestion: Summerbird and Galler chocolates. We discovered both brands the first time we visited Hamburg. Since then, every time we visit this lovely city we come back home with a bag full of deliciousness, as you can see in the picture :-). I totally recommend the Summerbird nougat covered almonds and Galler mini bars, specially the white chocolate with walnut praline filling. Not only have both brands excelent quality products, but also gorgeous packaging. You will make Saint Nicholas really proud! We usually buy these chocolates at Oschätzen Hamburg, but maybe you could find them in your favourite gourmet shop. Ask for them! You won’t regret it!
This weekend we had a great time in Hamburg. We made our first Christmas shopping, we visited two neighbourhoods we didn’t know, had dinner at Bullerei (quite a disappointment, I must say) and discover a great place for breakfast, Gnosa. But the best thing of our weekend was our hotel, The George.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Hamburg. I’ve already told you about it here. This time we took my mother and she loved it too! The atmosphere is lovely, the decor is simple and rustic with that fancy French touch and, of course, the crepes are delicious!
Yesterday we spent the day in Hamburg with some friends. I have to admit that the first time I visisted it I didn’t like it at all, but it has somehow grown on me and everythime I go there I discover new places. So now I can say I really like it. Here you have some pictures I took with my BB: First we went for a walk through the new areas of the river port. I’d love to have an appartment with those views.
