November is usually a silly month for us. After an October full of birthdays and just before the Christmas madness, November just sits there, in the middle, with no expectations. It has been a bittersweet month but we’ve tried to make the most of it. We’ve travelled, we’ve drunk an unexpectedly high amount of cups of tea (hence the first picture) and we’ve worked a lot.
Every year we try to visit London just before Christmas. It’s the perfect start to the holiday season and it makes us happy: those bright lights, all that frenzy shopping, the hundreds of people in a specially good mood… and the food. Of course. On a very cold Friday we looked for shelter in, ehem, Selfridges, and had the most festive lunch at Le Chalet, the Winter rooftop restaurant. If that corridor doesn’t put you in a Christmas mood, I don’t know what will.
Another Friday, another weekend style icon. This week we introduce you to Marie, a beautiful Parisienne that shows a modern approach to the classic French allure. And her haircut is the epitome of cool. That’s always very important. And for that reason we envy her very much. And she has two kids and she looks like this. What’s with the Parisian mums? Do you remember last week’s post?
We knew the Thames. Who doesn’t? You go to London, you see the Thames. You pay no attention, though. There’s so much to see that the river just goes unnoticed. But last weekend we really experienced a new perspective of London where the river was the absolute focus. From Canada Water to Tower Bridge, we saw the Thames full of life, yet really quiet. Boats that sailed extremely fast mixed with slow river cruises. The cartoon-like skyscrapers of the City and the almost arrogant majesty of Tower bridge. The bustle and stillness that in a few minutes make the Thames look extremely different.
A couple of weeks ago we were strolling around Viertel, the cool area of Bremen, when we decided to have a look in one of the shops. We usually don’t go shopping in this neighbourhood because everything is so indie and cool that we just don’t feel comfortable. But! You never know what you are going to find, huh? And we did find something we like! We discovered Imperial, an Italian brand that has a bunch of beautiful dresses for the party season. The best thing is that they have a nice little number for every kind of woman: 1. The minimalistic scandi design lover will love this trapeze dress: muted pastel colours, subtle silver shimmer and a very simple cut. 2. The boho girl can find her perfect outfit mixing this long lace dress with a faux fur jacket and a pair of embellished boots. 3. Do you like retro vibes? Look no further! This beautiful black dress will look espectacular on you. Add a pair of black pumps, Veronica Lake hair and a touch of red …
This is how our weekend in London looked like…
We found Clara’s blog this week and we just can’t get enough! She is a Parisian mum of 3 (3!!!), runs her own company and has an outstanding style. We want to be like her! Mayor closet envy. Lots of high quality basics, neutral colours, flats and bold lips. And don’t get us started on her bag collection… Clara, we love you!!!
The days before Christmas are an excellent time to visit Venice. The city is almost empty, the cold and the mist give the canals a surreal atmosphere and the Christmas decorations are subtle and elegant. Venice is also a great shopping destination and there are lots of lovely boutiques where you can buy the most charming Christmas presents for your loved ones. Here you have our tips for an unforgettable Christmas getaway in Venice: 1. Savour a nice piece of tiramisù or a meringata at Melita (Castello 1000, Fondamenta Sant’Anna) and then walk the calories away in the lonely Giardini Publici. Go back to the city center through the Riva dei Sette Mártiri to enjoy the best views of the Venetian Lagoon. In the distance you will spot the Campanile and San Giorgo island playing hide and seek with the fog. 2. You will need a hat because the wind will freeze your ears! You can find the most beautiful (and fancy) hats in Longo (San Marco 4813, Calle del Lovo) or Daniele (San Polo …

We have to confess that we’ve been listening to Christmas carols and tunes all weekend. And once we’ve heard All I want for Christmas is you, there’s no going back. For us, it’s already Christmas. In a few weeks we’ll be preparing our suitcases to visit our family for Chistmas because that’s what you do when you are an expat. But we secretly want to spent this Christmas in Zurich. Chocolate, Chistmas market and snow? What more can you ask for? Well, family and friends. That’s why we will be travelling to Spain ;) But a Christmas city break in Zurich… Oh, wouldn’t it be nice?
