Liassidi Palace, Venezia

A couple of years ago my wife surprised me with the most wonderful present that she could ever give me: a weekend get away to Venice just before Christmas. She knows that I’m totally in love with Venice since I was a child and spent the most amazing Summers there with my mother. She knows that I love Christmas. And she knows that Castello is my favourite neighborhood in Venice. So she booked the enchanting Liassidi Palace Hotel, a boutique hotel. Everything was just perfect: perfect location – closed to San Marco but away from the tourists crowds -, perfect timing – a week before the crazy Christmas week -,  and perfect atmosphere. Do you want to have a look?

The hotel is placed in a restored gothic palace. Long corridors and big halls full of art, red velvet sofas (even in the elevator, nice touch) and Murano lamps wellcomed us warmly. Our room was tastefully decorated, totally Venetian style, with rich colors and fabrics. The velvet curtains gave such a theatrical atmosphere to the room, we almost felt at the opera ;-)

Even the bathroom was gorgeous. And speaking about bathrooms, do you want to see the bathrooms of the hotels we visit? I don’t post photos of bathrooms because I find it kind of weird but… Well, let me know. Anyway, in this case I even love the bathroom scales! But frankly I don’t know why they put it there. It’s Italy! I’m on holidays! I’m going to eat tons of carbs! Don’t remind me of my weight! Oh, and speaking of delicious carbs, my favourite restaurant in Venice is just a few meters away from Liassidi Palace hotel. I told you location was perfect.

Breakfast was goooood. Best cornetti all’albicocca ever. Again, why bathroom scales?

The Lissiadi Palace hotel was our home for three marvellous days. The weather was sunny but terribly cold, just how I like it. The city was almost empty and subtly decorated for Chistmas, after all the most beautiful place in the world doesn’t need too many ornaments. We walked, we talked, we laughed a lot, we ate a lot and we enjoyed our stay at Liassidi Palace a lot. I leave you with the view from our room… beautiful, isn’t it?
